Currants (w/oil) are very similar to raisins and come from the dried Zante grape. These currants are unlike fresh currants, which are tiny berries that are related to the Gooseberry. Dried currants are available year round and are ideal for baking because they compliment almond, cherry, cream, pear and raspberry flavors.
